What an unusual necklace I have here. This appears to be a graduation gift to someone who graduated from Ursuline college presumably the women''s division as that''s where the needle work degree was being taught. The date on the back indicates they graduated in 1910.
The badge is definitely gold I suspect it''s 12 kt but it''s been tested for at least 10 kt, for fear of doing damage to the delicate chain I did not test the chain but it does appear that the clasp is not gold. This is a piece of history and not for scrap gold! It would be devastating
The Life the original owner of this necklace must have lived. did they graduate for sewing or needlepoint possibly lace making. The possibilities are truly endless.
