antique porcelain oyster plate with SIX wells and a clam-shaped well for sauce. The clam-shaped dish is a product of Union Porcelain Works of Greenpoint NY, which was the first company to make oyster plates, and Imported by Richard Briggs of Boston MASS.

The unique design is just stunning with the high relief and details of snails and shells, the gorgeous aqua coloration is sets off the plate with touches of gold. This demure hand-painted plate is very rare, and the aqua coloration is listed on page 48 of Snyder''s book. The back is stamped with the makers mark as well as the importer and also Patent Jan. 4 1881.
